Climate Change Briefing - National 

Climate Change, Greenhouse and Energy Efficiency are looming as serious issues for energy users and the future of energy more broadly.  The EUAA  is therefore is holding a National Climate Change Briefing again this year.  This briefings will cover the greenhouse debate and climate change (including national and state measures), issues of interests to energy users and other stakeholders, energy efficiency measures, demand management and will include case studies.

Introductory Electricity Trading Simulation Game and Course is on 8th and 9th May 2008.

The introductory simulation course is ideal for executives, senior managers or operational staff with limited understanding of how the spot or financial electricity market works (either little or no generation, proprietary or retail trading and/or risk management experience) and for end-use customers to better understand the risks involved with retailing and generation businesses.   

Please take advantage of the early bird discount (20% off).  As an EUAA member, we are also able to provide you with a further 10% off.

 Here is some additional information in relation to the Electricity Trading Simulation Game and Course:

  • Attendee's receive detailed reports (including positions, profit and performance) and feedback during and at the completion of the course
  • Retail trading and hedging allows the ability to win customers and hedge loads of large contestable customers (C&I) and franchise loads
  • Proprietary trader has ability to trade via screen trading and perform fundamental (supply/demand) trading 
  • Attendee's set the pool (spot) price, by bidding in their generation portfolio and will need to take into account plant outages, weather, constraints and fuel availability
  • Spot market operations are based on the National Electricity Market in terms of dispatch and predispatch solving, pool price and PASA settings
  • Realistic real-time forward screen futures trading and OTC derivatives trading through market platform and voice broking
  • Real time position and performance (Mark to Market profit and loss) reporting for portfolios and teams
  • Risk management limits oversight built into system and incorporated into the real-time performance reporting
  • Attendee's can network with other market participants and gain one-on-one insight by interaction from course presenters  
  • The simulation game is computer based and uses laptop computers over a wireless network    
  • The Advanced Electricity Trading Simulation game allows participants to experience the interregional nodal market through multiple interconnected regions    
  • The Advanced Electricity Trading Simulation game also allows participants to experience more complex OTC and futures strategies than the Introductory Electricity Trading Simulation game (e.g. interregional and multiple products strategies)    
  • The Trading Simulation Company can facilitate the course internally for companies that want to fulfil specific simulations and course settings (e.g. remove proprietary trading and expand retail trading/hedging).
